Join Oxford Instruments as a Customer Support Engineer for Material Analysis in Wiesbaden, Germany!

With a rich history dating back to 1959, we specialize in designing, manufacturing, and supporting cutting-edge scientific instruments and solutions in fields like materials science, nanotechnology, and industrial applications. Our Materials Analysis group encompasses Electron Microscopy and Mechanical Microscopy products, Atomic Force Microscopes, Raman Microscopes, and Benchtop NMR. You will be part of a dynamic team working on innovative projects and collaborating with experts in the field.

 

As a Customer Support & Service Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring customer satisfaction and technical excellence. Your responsibilities will include:

✅ Achieving 100% first-time installations by verifying instrument compatibility and delivering exceptional results ✅ Diagnosing faults, performing on-site repairs, and providing calibration advice and training ✅ Offering excellent customer support through various channels, including phone, email, and in-person interactions ✅ Conducting preventative maintenance and ensuring timely repairs and shipment of systems and parts ✅ Coordinating with the European team and headquarters to maintain positive customer relationships and facilitate ongoing communication ✅ Keeping technical documentation up to date and staying informed about new products and technological advancements

 

Role requirements:

�� Education / Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Engineering, Electronics, Applied or Experimental Physics, Material Science, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience using and troubleshooting AFMs or similar high technology tools

�� Professional Skills/Abilities

  • Proficient in electronics and hardware troubleshooting, with soldering skills
  • Excellent time management skills to effectively handle complex technical problems
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues on challenging technical issues
  • Strong customer service skills to provide exceptional support
  • Fluent in both German and English languages (spoken and written)

  • Hardworking individual dedicated to the success of the business
  • Flexible attitude, open to unexpected changes in day-to-day timelines
  • Effective communication skills with colleagues, management, and customers, even in high-pressure situations
  • Willingness to travel worldwide, with at least 60% of the time spent on travel
