JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Psychology in the College of the Liberal Arts is seeking a highly organized and team-oriented person to serve as a full-time Human Research Technologist in the DREAM (Dismantling Racial inEquities Around Mental Health) Lab at Penn State, directed by Dr. Chardée Galán. 

The Human Research Technologist will assist with research projects focused on developing and testing culturally-affirming interventions, understanding racial trauma among youth and families of color, and identifying evidence-based approaches to promote anti-racism. 

The Human Research Technologist may also have the opportunity to work on a pending study that will focus on developing and testing an intervention for Latinx youth, caregivers, and families.

The Human Research Technologist will provide oversight of several lab and study activities and will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Recruiting, screening, and scheduling of families

  • Coordinating contact with schools, community agencies, and families

  • Conducting in-person and virtual study assessments

  • Refining and developing data-related procedures and policies for research projects

  • Helping to manage project finances (i.e., participant payments, study-related purchases, ordering lab materials)

  • Training and oversight of undergraduate team members

  • Maintaining and managing datasets, monitoring data for completeness and accuracy, and maintaining clear and detailed documentation necessary to maintain databases and analyses

  • Assisting the Principal Investigator with Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions, IRB compliance, and progress reports

  • Maintain meticulous and well-organized records

  • Participate in the dissemination of research findings via preparation of abstracts for presentation at scientific conferences and manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication

This position will require travel (typically, one to two days per week) from Penn State’s University Park Campus (State College) to the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, area where some data collection will take place.
