Position: Production Manager - Reports to the Director of Manufacturing
On-Site Position: Logan, Utah
Job Summary: This is a high-pressure position requiring drive and motivation to overcome obstacles and you will need to be able to make quick, logical, and decisive decisions and actions throughout the workday. As the leader, you provide the vision and direction for all manufacturing activities and coordinate the support functions to achieve Spartronics operational objectives which drives continuous improvement and continually raises the bar for perfection. Direct reports include the supervisors on the shifts who are responsible for SMT, THA, Test, and Box Build.
Essential Job Functions
- Promotes and ensures all employees follow industry standard health and safety guidelines
- Ensures quality objectives are attained
- Responsible for the entire production floor product flow, starting from receiving production kit from inventory to delivery of the finished product.
- Manages, mentors, and coaches direct reports on productivity and performance
- Coordinates and creates production plan with production control
- Identifies, manages, and evaluates changing constraints of the entire factory to meet the production plan
- Creates contingency and recovery plans (including overtime) if the plan is not achieved
- Participates in Peer/Phase reviews of products to ensure production readiness
- Oversees supervisory activities of the supervisors, reviews, development plans, write-ups, terminations, etc.
- Facilitates or leads the huddle response to the escalation of defects
- Escalates and coordinates communication with other departments (Documentation, quality, part delivery, and other issues)
- Seek to reduce the total conversion time of assemblies through the factory
- Complete a verbal and written pass-down at the end of the shift
- Manages staffing needs to meet the production plan
- Manages all 6S (5S + Safety) activities to have a spotless, organized production floor
- Always ensures facility security
Requirements
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing
- 3+ years of experience in managing people and other leadership positions
- Safety Metrics
- Quality Metrics – Final Inspection, OOBA, Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) rates
- Scrap and Rework Expenses
- Conversion Time
- WIP aging and accuracy.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Suite.
- Excellent operational and project management.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing principles including Six Sigma and Lean.
- Strong problem-solving and leadership.
- Proven track record of successfully training employees in productivity and safety.
- Ability to coach and mentor employees on a one-on-one basis as well as in a group.
