About the role
The On-Call Event Assistant supports the planning, setup, execution, and breakdown of events. This role is flexible and scheduled based on event needs, making it ideal for individuals who enjoy a dynamic work environment. Responsibilities include general event support, housekeeping duties, and bar service assistance to ensure a high-quality guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Event Setup & Breakdown
- Assist with setting up event spaces, including tables, chairs, linens, décor, and equipment
- Ensure event areas are clean, organized, and visually appealing before guests arrive
- Support teardown and cleanup after events, returning spaces to standard condition
- Transport and arrange supplies and equipment as needed
Guest Service
- Greet and assist guests in a friendly, professional manner
- Provide support to event coordinators and respond to guest needs promptly
- Maintain a positive atmosphere and high level of customer service throughout events
Housekeeping Duties
- Maintain cleanliness of event spaces, restrooms, and common areas during events
- Collect and remove trash, recycling, and used dishware
- Wipe down surfaces, sweep, mop, and spot-clean as needed
- Restock supplies such as paper products, soap, and cleaning materials
- Assist with post-event deep cleaning to ensure readiness for future events
Bar Duties
- Assist with bar setup, including stocking beverages, glassware, garnishes, and supplies
- Support bartenders during service by restocking, cleaning, and organizing the bar area
- Maintain cleanliness of bar stations, including wiping surfaces and washing glassware
- Follow all alcohol service laws and company policies (training may be required)
- Help monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors of shortages
Qualifications
- Previous experience in events, hospitality, housekeeping, or food & beverage preferred but not required
- Strong work ethic with ability to handle physically active tasks (lifting, standing, moving equipment)
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed
- Must meet legal requirements for handling alcohol (if applicable)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and carry items for extended periods
- Lift and move up to 30–50 lbs regularly
- Work in fast-paced and occasionally high-pressure environments
Work Schedule
- On-call position; hours vary based on event schedule
- Availability required for nights, weekends, and peak event seasons
