The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer/Technologist you will provide process engineering support for 3M’s Electrical Products Division, supporting the plant in Chelmsford, MA.
Provide and lead engineering support for manufacturing, quality, and sales initiatives. Function as an internal expert, investigating process improvements, as well as initiating capital expenditures to increase plant efficiencies.
Utilize structured problem-solving techniques. Evaluate and analyze project results, using statistical toolsets. Collaborate with cross-functional teams as assigned.
Document results, and update manufacturing procedures as needed. Lead and train personnel on new manufacturing techniques and process equipment.
Collaborate with customers, vendors, and 3M cross functional groups to ensure process modifications meets customer requirements and product claims.
Determine equipment layouts and process flow to improve efficiencies. Provide ownership of all process improvements in assigned areas of responsibility. Participate in the plants tier process, completing tasks as assigned. Recommend and install capital equipment which leads to improved rate and yields.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Associate’s degree/Technical Diploma or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institute and five (5) combined years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, and/or project management in a private, public, government or military environment.
-OR-
Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution and two (2) combined years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, and/or project management in a private, public, government or military environment.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Mechanical or Plastic engineering experience is a plus, including extrusion and high-speed converting.
Knowledge of plastics processing and high-speed converting processes.
Working knowledge of PLC's and HMI's.
Ability to solve problems utilizing structured problem-solving tools.
Must be “hands-on” and highly motivated, as well as action oriented.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at once.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles.
SolidWorks and Minitab experience.
Knowledge of ISO 9001.
