Department Overview:

The Regional Media Strategist Lead will be responsible for developing a strategic, external communications strategy that encompasses TD's efforts across lines of business, social impact, government relations and all relevant areas of the bank in order to tell a comprehensive and impactful local narrative. This role will be responsible for cultivating local media relationships as well as attending local events, making inroads with community and business organizations all in an effort to strengthen TD's local presence and make our efforts well known in the region.

Job Description:

The Regional Media Strategist Lead manages/leads development and/or execution of plans/programs/projects/strategies by designing and delivering communications consistent with TD’s corporate standards and strategies, and in support of business results.

Depth & Scope:

  • Manages multiple communications projects/programs/initiatives of moderate scope and complexity
  • Highly seasoned communications professional role requiring substantial knowledge/expertise in a complex field and knowledge of broader related areas
  • Integrates knowledge of the enterprise sub-function’s or business line’s overarching strategy in developing solutions across multiple functions or operations
  • Interprets internal/external business challenges and the industry environment, recommends course of action and best practices to improve products, processes or services
  • Acts as a technical expert/lead integrating cross-function understanding within their own field of specialty
  • Leads cross-functional teams or projects
  • Independently manages end-to-end functional programs
  • Solves or may lead others to solve complex problems; leads efforts or partners with others to develop new solutions
  • Uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise judgement and identify solutions
  • Impacts the achievement of sub-function or business line objectives within the area they are accountable for
  • Work is guided by policies and industry standards/methods
  • Communicates difficult concepts; converts information to compelling business context and advice; influences and gains alignment across increasingly senior stakeholders
  • Works autonomously as the lead and guides others within area of expertise

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree or relevant professional certifications, designations, or equivalent required
  • 7+ years relevant experience
  • Advanced knowledge of multiple communications disciplines, media channels, internal/external audiences, public relations, consulting principles, lines of businesses supported, banking industry, and customers supported
  • Knowledge of current and emerging competitor and market trends
  • Knowledge of risk management environment, standards and regulations
  • Ability to manage a budget and work within the constraints of that budget
  • Ability to contribute to strategic direction of the function and provide advice to senior leadership
  • Skill in mentoring, coaching and performance management
  • Ability to lead, plan, implement and evaluate program/project activities to ensure completion of initiatives
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in making decisions
  • Ability to make an impact, influence and achieve results with effective negotiation, problem-solving and communication skills
