The Cytology Prep Tech. prepares cytology slides from Gynecologic and Non-Gynecologic Specimens for microscopic examination and diagnosis by Cytopathologists and Pathologists. Perform pre-analytical procedures including labeling, preparing aliquots, specimen processing, laboratory waste disposal and decontamination of laboratory areas.

Location: Las Vegas, NV 89128

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM

Full-time: Benefit Eligible

Essential Key Responsibilities:

• Accessions Gynecologic, Non-Gynecologic, and Molecular specimens for microscopic evaluation by opening, verifying patient identity and sample integrity, labeling, entering information from the test requisition into the Laboratory Information System and preparation of the manifest.
• Processing cytology specimens including Liquid Based Pap tests, fine needle aspirations, non-gynecologic smears and monolayers.
• Pre-Aliquots and/or Aliquots specimens according to established procedures.
• Grosses and prepares smears, monolayer cytospins and cell blocks.

Education/Licensure/Certification:

• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent

Experience:

• 1 year of practical Laboratory experience preferred.

Requirements:

• Process up to 500 slides accurately in an 8-hour shift.
• <1% overall production errors.
• Accurate and complete QC and QA documentation.
