Hiring Manager: Robert Woodberry

Contact: Robert_Woodberry@baylor.edu

Work Schedule: Flexible working hours

Desired Length of Employment: Fall/Spring

Job Description:

Finding and processing data to measure the impact of missionaries. Data entry. Reading sources to find information.

In French:
(Being able to read French would be very helpful, but not necessary.  Reading with a dictionary is fine.)
Most work would be
Reading brief (one paragraph) biographies of Catholic priests to pull out their key dates and filling them into an Excel sheet (so we can measure their impact in specific locations).
Reading brief (one or two paragraph) synopses of missionary activity in Catholic diocese (or parishes) to fill key information about them into an Excel form.
All the biographies and diocese summaries are in roughly parallel form, so not difficult to do.

Some work might be
reading histories of printing in French colonies to find key dates.
Reading histories of French missions in Melanesia to find key information.
However, these are not essential to the position.

In English:
Entering key dates about Protestant missionaries into an Excel form.
Entering key dates about Protestant missions stations into an Excel form.

Collecting sources from the library and seeing if they cover particular topics, perhaps giving me key information from the source
