PROGRAM SUMMARY
Crisis Connections provides a variety of telephone-based support services that are free and easily accessible to anyone in our community experiencing crisis. Our service area includes King County and WA State. Our passion is to foster resilience and wellbeing for all by connecting people to accessible and compassionate support.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Training Specialist, in collaboration with the Clinical Training Manager and Clinical Leadership team of the agency, delivers our training program for staff and volunteers. The Specialist will be an expert in delivering content that supports various learning styles and modes of delivery, including face-to-face and virtual modalities. Training courses will meet all applicable contract requirements, accreditation standards, and best practices.
The Specialist will work with the Clinical Training Manager to evaluate the effectiveness of training and on developing and updating training materials. The focus of this position is to significantly increase quality and consistency of the training content delivered to staff and volunteers across our various clinical service lines (Warm Line, Teen Link, Crisis Services, WA Recovery Helpline, 988), as well as ensure content and delivery furthers diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging principles, values and initiatives.
Training Responsibilities:
- Delivers a wide range of behavioral health-oriented training for our staff and volunteers. Assists with the development of curriculum that reflects the most current knowledge of the field. Delivers training using best practice standards and utilizing various learning styles and modes of delivery.
- Collaborates with internal and external subject matter experts to update, develop, and deliver ongoing reoccurring training for the following functions within the agency.
- Patient Placement Coordination
- Hospital Authorization
- King County Crisis & Commitment program lines
- Professional lines & associated functions
- Supporting screeners and phone workers
- Telephonic emotional support
- Crisis Intervention
- Suicide Intervention
- Peer to Peer Support
- Online emotional support (chat/text)
- Referrals for follow-up services
- Supports the new hire training process by providing additional shadowing and support when not facilitating or developing training modules.
- Assists with the development and delivery of new training courses, especially those that require accreditation by the trainer or are evidence-based training courses.
- Supports the maintenance of a database of internal training modules that are updated annually, or as needed following departmental updates.
- With support of the Senior Training Coordinator, manages the logistics of the training program including coordinating registration materials, facilities, equipment, presentation materials etc.
- Facilitates new hire clinical training as needed by the various clinical departments.
- Facilitates other clinical training as assigned (Mental Health First Aid, ASIST, etc.).
- Training responsibilities are primarily internal to the agency.
Professional Development:
- Maintains required credential and keeps updated on current professional literature and trends in mental health field.
- Completes a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education training per FTE on approved topics relevant to the job function.
- Attends various staff meetings for the agency.
- Maintains all required trainer certifications as required.
