This role is required to be on-site. This position reports to the Chief Economist & Head of Market Research. 

 

What you will do: 

  • Lead Nutrien’s Fertilizer Market Research team, responsible for analyzing and forecasting fertilizer supply and demand, trade and prices
  • Lead the benchmark fertilizer price forecast process, developing short to long-term price forecasts for the key fertilizer benchmarks for Nutrien’s businesses, coordinating regular reviews with the internal steering team in order to gain alignment and approval
  • Act as the main point of contact between the Fertilizer Market Research team and internal and external stakeholders, clearly communicating market analysis in presentations and reports
  • Oversee the compilation of the Market Research Quarterly Data Package, ensuring it remains a key reference source of industry data utilized by Nutrien’s senior management
  • Manage the development of Nutrien’s Fact Book, including the gathering of information, coordinating internal and external contributors, and setting and meeting timelines
  • Direct the gathering and management of external fertilizer trade, supply and demand data
  • Supervise the monitoring of competitive intelligence, including tracking fertilizer project announcements and progress, and reporting on peers’ quarterly earnings

 

What you will bring:

  • Undergraduate/graduate degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Business or Ag Business is required
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in commodity market analysis or similar field required, with experience in fertilizer markets considered an asset
  • Leadership track record, with ability to manage, lead and develop team members and influence senior management decision-making
  • Proven communications skills, with the ability to consistently convey complex analysis and information concisely in written and verbal forms to inform and influence a variety of audiences
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products, particularly PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Strong analytical skills, including experience with quantitative analysis and data management in addition to the ability to think critically and utilize an ‘economist’s mindset’ to solve problems
  • Self- motivated, highly organized and demonstrated ability to work under pressure with a large and varied workload with changing priorities
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and keep a team functioning in an effective, efficient manner to maximize work output

 

Compensation & Benefits: 

The salary range for this role, in Deerfield, IL, is between $110,400 - $189,300. While we provide this range as general guidance, several factors are taken into consideration when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, candidate skill set, experience and training, licensure and certifications, work location, and other business and organizational needs. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.
