Overnight Outpatient Veterinary Technician

We are excited to welcome a dedicated Overnight Outpatient Veterinary Technician to our team at Southern Rockies Animal Emergency & Specialty Hospital in beautiful Colorado Springs!

About the role:
Outpatient Technicians work as the link between clients, client services, and doctors. They must be able to react in any situation in a professional and efficient manner. Additionally, they will work directly with the Emergency doctors with incoming patients.

Compensation:
  • Starting at $22 - $26 hourly, based on experience and skillset
    • +$$ 3/hr. night differentials
    • +$$ 4/hr. weekend differentials
Anticipated Schedule:
  • Full Time
    • 3x12 hour shifts
    • 6pm – 6am
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Follow all protocols, policies, and procedures of Powers Pet Emergency & Specialty
  • Assist in all daily duties for clinic care.
  • While seeing rooms, record all pertinent medical, client and case related information in the patient record accurately with appropriate grammar, terms, and accurate information.
  • Assist with hospital cleaning duties when necessary.
  • Maintain excellent client communication.
  • Assisting client service team members with patient check-in and out when necessary.
  • Review medical records, estimates or discharge instructions with clients.
  • Answer the phones promptly and in a courteous and informative way.
  • Perform venipunctures and IVC placement
  • Administer medications under the direction of a doctor (PO, SQ, IM, IV)
  • Provide patient care under the direction of a doctor.
  • Obtaining accurate patient vitals and presenting cases to the doctors.
  • Follow all OSHA regulations and hospital safety standards.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Veterinary Technician experience required; emergency and/or specialty experience preferred
  • Strong skills in laboratory work, pharmacy, radiology, and patient nursing care
  • Ability to prioritize multiple cases and remain calm in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and client education skills
  • Compassionate, patient-focused approach to veterinary medicine
  • Basic computer, math, and English communication skills required
  • Availability to work 12-hour shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role; fluency in multiple languages a plus!
