Structural Integrity Engineer, Princ
We are looking for a Structural Integrity Engineer to join our Shelby team!
As our Structural Integrity Engineer you will perform static stress, fatigue life and damage tolerance analysis on mechanical parts associated with aircraft rotary and linear actuation equipment including gears; perform vibration, shock and dynamic analysis on mechanical equipment; work with mechanical design engineers to optimize designs for minimum size and weight; perform thermal analysis and FEA modeling on mechanical equipment, electric motors and motor electronic drive assemblies.
Location: Shelby, NC
Salary: $131,000 to $189,200

Your Challenge
- Finite Element Modeling and structural analysis of aircraft rotary and linear actuation equipment and components such as gears, splines, shafts, bearings, ballscrews, housings, fasteners and other related parts (ANSYS a must, experience with Altair/Hyperworks desired)
- Fatigue analysis methods including Miner’s Rule, Rainflow, Equivalent Loading, Damage Tolerance (NASGRO)
- Shock, Vibration and deflection FEA analysis
- Stress analysis using traditional textbook methods (Roark, Shigley, Peterson, etc.)
- Thermal FEA analysis for electric motors, actuator, and motor drive electronics assemblies and printed circuit boards
- Ability to communicate and work collaboratively within product development teams, present work during formal design reviews, and document work clearly in deliverable stress and thermal analysis reports
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- 12+ years experience
- Must be a US Citizen
- Familiarity with analysis of rotating transmission equipment including
geared components, splines, bearings, shafts, and housings; Finite
element analysis experience, ANSYS required; Familiarity with fatigue
analysis techniques and computer analysis tools such as Matlab, MathCad,
NASGRO, Orbis; Familiarity with high strength materials; Experience
using FEA for steady state and transient thermal simulation of mechanical
and electronics equipment - Experience with NX Computer Aided Design is highly desirable as basis
for FEA modeling; Experience with gearing and gearbox mechanical
design and layout using NX is desirable
