Details of Research Project:
- Evaluation of cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying IBD pathogenesis, with a particular focus on epithelial cell biology
- Consideration of Crohn’s fistulae pathogenesis. Defining mechanisms of injury and non-repair that drive fistula formation
- Linking IBD genetics with pathogenic and protective mechanisms.
- Linking population differences with variable pathophysiologic measures
Technical Duties: (include any protocols)
- Strong proficiency in cell culture methods, with a particular focus on clearly defining outcomes of interest and linking IBD genetics with molecular mechanisms
- Molecular biology techniques: RT-PCR, ELISA, Western blotting, possibly mass spectrotmetry
- Developing primary enteroid and co-culture methods
- Interpretative skills: H&E and intact tissues interpretation
Educational and other Requirements for the position:
- Successful MD or PhD completion
Experience Required:
- Cell culture of epitheliail cell lines
- Deep understanding of IBD-associated genes
Goals/Outcomes of the Research Project:
- Multiple publications as primary and secondary authors
- Identification of molecular pathways contributing to IBD
- Advances in identifying cell-cell mechanisms of cross-talk
Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $72,500.00 - $80,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
