This Paralegal will support attorneys in the areas of class actions, intellectual property, government investigations, product liability, and general commercial litigation nationwide, with a heavy focus on e-discovery. This position will assist attorneys in all phases of case development, including email and document collection, review, and preparation for production. A successful candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills, be detail oriented with a high level of accuracy, and comfortable with technology. Experience in managing electronic discovery, including email and document collections/productions, is required.
Major Responsibilities
- Exercise independent judgment to prepare requests for documents and information, collect, review, and prepare documents for production in litigated matters.
- Collaborate with other business units to collect documents and information for discovery.
- Assist in the preparation of detailed draft responses to discovery requests, including interrogatories, requests for production of documents, and requests for admissions.
- Communicate and work effectively with both in-house and outside counsel, other business units, and expert witnesses.
- Maintain litigation files in the Document Management System.
- Use advanced knowledge to ensure compliance with Records Management Program policies.
- Conduct legal and investigative research as required.
- Maintain and update discovery logs.

- Assist with distributing litigation holds.
- Assist with electronic discovery collection, production, and document review.
- Collaborate with Records Management schedules and e-discovery best practices to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
- Conduct legal research as needed.
- Assist in the management of vendors in conjunction with Purchasing Department.
- Other duties as assigned.
Authority
- Support various HMA departments by obtaining feedback and suggestions for program enhancements, and identifying feasible and appropriate improvements.
- Assist in the management of vendors, including outside law firms (define scope and ensure deliver of goods/services, monitor and drive performance, work to raise level of program effectiveness). Assist in the management of vendors in conjunction with Purchasing Department.
- Position may be involved with interviewing/evaluation of new hires.
Education
~ Bachelor’s degree preferredRelated Experience
- At least five years of in-house or law firm experience is required
- Litigation experience related to the automotive industry or comparable complex commercial litigation preferred.
Skills/Knowledge
- Experience in MS Office 365 with emphasis in Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
- Superior organizational skills.
- Strong computer background.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
- Multitasking and ability to perform with little or no direction.
- Ability to interact with others in a professional manner.
Certification
- Paralegal Certificate required.
