Job Description:
The Data Owner Senior Group Manager is a senior level professional role accountable for ensuring compliance with Regulations, Laws, and Citi Policies, Standards & Procedures to reduce and manage Citi’s data risk. This individual will be responsible for defining the strategy, implementation plan, and BAU operations for Data Ownership. Through collaboration with Chief Data Office teams, Technology, and business stakeholders, this role provides data consumers across the organization’s businesses and functions with Certified Data that is fit for purpose and meets their requirements. The Data Owner will serve as a thought leader in their space.
This role will lead Data Ownership (as stated in the Citi Data Governance Policy) for authoritative Master & Reference Data (MRD) domains within Services, Markets, and Client (SM&C) data organizations, including authoritative sources for Accounts and Securities. The individual will need to collaborate across teams of internal data governance stakeholders (including Senior Data Managers, Data Risk & Control, Data Quality/Analytics & Reporting, Master & Reference Data Strategist, Data Tech, etc.) and business/function stakeholders to define a strategic operating model and playbook for MRD data ownership, followed by execution and operation. This will require driving pilot programs with multiple systems and distilling the outcomes into a workable solution which may be leveraged as a model for establishing similar data ownership practices in the business and operations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Data Ownership (as stated in the Citi Data Governance Policy) for Master & Reference Data domains within Services, Markets, and Client (SM&C) data organizations.
- Report into the SM&C MRD Data Lead within the Chief Data Office and provide horizontal support across Services, Markets, and Client businesses while partnering closely with senior data leaders in Operations and Technology to fulfill the obligations of the Citi Data Governance Policy.
- Manage a team of senior professional data owners to deliver data solutions via exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to educate and influence stakeholders on data ownership obligations across SM&C Businesses, Operations, & Technology.
- Define and operationalize an MRD operating model influencing senior level stakeholders in Operations, Technology, and Business utilizing a solid understanding of how Master & Reference Data is used by different functions and businesses, including the wholesale and retail businesses, risk, finance, and compliance.
- Drive strategic decisions on data governance strategy with senior data leaders in Ops, Tech, and Business to fulfill the obligations in the Citi Data Governance Policy including setting direction on controls monitoring, key performance metrics, and service level agreements.
- Monitor strategic controls and governance of MRD authoritative sources and chair a senior governance forum composed of senior data leaders in Ops, Tech, and Business while managing a dedicated team to support data ownership operations. Partner with MRD transformation leads to ensure alignment with MRD Consent Order commitments.
- Contribute to decisions on issues/activities that have critical impact or influence on company revenues, capital, or business operations.
- Challenge teams’ plan to identify roadblocks, and dependencies.
- Lead efforts to identify end-to-end data flow, including all upstream areas that create and/or consume Authoritative Data Sources to ensure they adopt new policy/standards, data models, and appropriate infrastructure.
- Create effective presentations suitable for all audience types, including the Citigroup Board, Executive Management Team, and partners.
- Partner with relevant stakeholders to align key data capabilities including metadata repositories, data dictionaries, data lineage, business process maps, and training materials with the data and system process flows.
- Prioritize Data Concerns, including dispositioning and monitoring fixes (Data defects, Data issues). Report Data Quality issues through Citi’s corresponding Data/Issue management process. Develop appropriate metrics and key performance indicators associated with data quality and controls; and define and institute sustainable processes to produce them on regular cadence.
- Ensure sound program / project management for entire Data portfolio (in partnership with Program Management Office), including ensuring clear deliverables and timelines are defined accurately, there is timely identification of risk/risk management established, internal sponsors / clients / beneficiaries are accurately assessed and engaged, and a process that ensures accurate milestone reporting and changes is instituted.
