A Day in the Life

Are you ready to help drive scalable, strategic platform initiatives for the global leader in medical technology? As a core member of the Manufacturing Technology Platforms team within Operations Innovation, you will take ownership of the critical business processes that enable our engineers to focus on engineering. In this role, you will lead and continuously improve business functions such as purchasing, contracts, information management, budgeting tools, and project tracking. Leveraging your strong project management skills, you will identify and implement business process improvements that streamline operations and drive efficiency. Each initiative you manage will directly contribute to achieving our 5-year strategic goals and creating ongoing value for the organization. Most importantly, your work will strengthen Medtronic’s ability to deliver life-saving products and support groundbreaking new product innovation—advancing our Mission to Alleviate Pain, Restore Health, and Extend Life.

  • Partner with engineering platform leads to understand project needs and ensure business processes enable execution. 

  • Lead and manage core business processes including purchasing, supplier contracts, information/document management, budgeting, and project tracking. 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain tools to improve visibility, efficiency, and consistency across multiple platform development teams. 

  • Drive the use of project management systems to ensure timely tracking of milestones, deliverables, and reporting updates. 

  • Serve as the liaison between engineering teams and cross-functional partners (Finance, Sourcing, Legal, IT, etc.) to resolve issues and accelerate progress. 

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and standardize business processes, ensuring scalability for future growth. 

  • Prepare and deliver clear updates on project and budget status to leadership and stakeholders. 

  • Support annual planning cycles and ensure alignment of resources and budgets with strategic priorities. 

  • Anticipate and proactively address operational or business challenges that could impact engineering execution. 

  • Champion best practices in business operations that allow the team to stay focused on delivering transformative engineering solutions. 

Must Haves 

Bachelor’s Degree and 7+ years of experience managing large scale projects and programs OR Advanced Degree and 5+ years of experience

Nice to Have 

  • PMP (Project Management Professional), Lean Six Sigma, or similar certification 

  • Experience with purchasing systems, contract management, and budget tracking tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa) 

  • Strong familiarity with project management platforms (e.g., Planisware, MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Confluence) 

  • Background working with engineering or technology development teams 

  • Demonstrated ability to streamline and standardize business processes across multiple teams or functions 

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to bridge technical and business perspectives 

  • Experience supporting cross-functional initiatives in a large, matrixed organization 

  • Comfort with ambiguity and proven track record of driving structure and clarity in complex programs
