Senior Indirect Tax Analyst - Tax Operations
What can you expect?
We are currently seeking a Senior Indirect Tax Analyst - Tax Operations in our New York City office. This role will report to the Assistant Director, US Indirect Tax and is a hybrid position with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.
The US Senior Indirect Tax Analyst - Tax Operations role will be involved in a broad range of activities concerned with US Indirect Taxes, including but not limited to managing the outsourced indirect tax compliance process, assisting with tax audit support, and liaising with the business on a variety of matters. A significant proportion of the role will be preparing, reviewing, and analyzing indirect tax compliance data, continuously improving processes, and integrating automation to improve the end-to-end compliance process and reliability of results.
In addition to the above work, which is focused on tax compliance, this role will also provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to work on a range of projects and initiatives to drive savings and to reduce risk. This will involve working with business, tax, accounting, legal and technology colleagues.

We will count on you to:
- Work with external service providers in relation to indirect tax reporting and data gathering to make sure all compliance is filed timely and accurately.
- Assist business and finance colleagues on Sales and Use Tax, Personal Property Tax, and Business Tax matters.
- Work to improve data accuracy and the processes for collecting indirect tax data.
- Prepare related tax and professional service provider payments via check and ACH requests.
- Clearance of all indirect tax notices and issues as they arise.
- Assist with reviews and research to ensure that the various MMC businesses are applying sales tax correctly.
- Assist with compiling audit data requests.
- Manage vendor exemption certificate requests.
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in tax / accounting
- 1-2 years’ experience with US Indirect Tax reporting, including sales and use, personal property, gross receipts, and business tax is ideally required.
- Advanced Excel, Alteryx, or other similar database tool skills to manipulate large data sets.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, external advisors, and government agencies.
- Effective organization and prioritization skills with ability to manage multiple deliverables.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to apply innovative approaches to problem solve.
- Be familiar with using systems such as Oracle, Vertex and with tax reporting processes that require the collation of data from multiple systems.
