The Aerospace Corporation is hiring Cloud Software Engineer Intern / Site Reliability Engineer Interns for the Cloud Platforms and Architectures Department in the Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD). Opportunities are available in El Segundo, CA and Chantilly, VA.
Job Summary
ISCD staff members couple the latest in information system technologies, such as elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, data science, Artificial Intelligence, process improvement, and software development to deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our Intelligence Community, DoD, and civilian customers.
The Cloud Platforms and Architectures Department is seeking applicants with a passion to learn cloud systems and solutions, focused on software development with state-of-the-art technologies. Interns will be given the ability to work on multiple projects over the summer, covering different customers, focus areas, and tools. Internship tasking is intended to allow students to complement their academic studies with hands-on, career-building experience.
Work Model:
These positions may be onsite with the option of a hybrid work model that offers partially remote with some onsite work in El Segundo, CA and Chantilly, VA.
What You’ll Be Doing
Perform software development for various cloud-related rapid prototyping activities.
Research and experiment with state-of-the-art software and hardware technologies.
Manage Linux systems to provide software-as-a-service, platform-as-a-service, and infrastructure-as-a-service capabilities.
Implement DevOps technologies to streamline development, testing, build, and deployment of applications.
Investigate bleeding edge cloud technologies for current and future implementation by customers in the space domain.
Receive training and mentorship from cloud and software development subject matter experts.
Learn about projects, tools, and technologies used across the enterprise.

What You Need to be Successful
Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited college/university program pursuing a Bachelor’s, degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field(s) from a recognized institution.
Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks outside of university term and ability to return to a degree program full- time after completion of the internship.
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Software development experience with at least one major language (e.g., Python, Java, C/C++, Go, Rust, etc.)
This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
