Senior UX Designer

As a UX Designer for STR, you'll immerse yourself in the realm of data-driven and user-centric defense projects. We are searching for design leaders with eagerness to deeply understand customers and the value the product brings to them. STR is seeking candidates ranging from senior UX designers to technical leads; entry-level designers will not be considered for this role. This role will be remote, within the US, with up to 25% of travel time required. 

The Role: 
 
This role involves working with multiple teams across the project in an agile environment. You will brainstorm, and design live with the product manager to create initial wireframes and mid-fidelity designs. You will break down the initial designs into short- and long-term steps and create interactive prototypes, iterating with product owners, software engineers to improve the workflow and generate high-fidelity designs. At the end of the two-week sprint, you will pass your designs to the UI development team and work with them to ensure the best implementation in the time available, proactively monitoring its progress and adherence to our UX design standards.  

This role requires strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as an interest in understanding how things work and a commitment to continuous learning.  Specific responsibilities include: 

• Create intuitive user-centric and data-driven designs that are intuitive during agile sprints
• Collaborate with the product manager and engineers from discovery to delivery, incorporating program and business constraints into the design of the product
• Use systems-level design thinking to drive design solutions that scale
• Present design work to project leadership and external stakeholders
• Use prototypes as the primary canvas for communicating ideas, both internally and externally
• Iterate with the UI development team to provide feedback on implementation

Who You Are: 

• Bachelor’s degree in UI/UX design related field or equivalent experience
• 6+ years of UI/UX design experience
• Proficient in design tools, such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Axure, or equivalent tools
• Have an existing design portfolio
• Strong experience designing for complex desktop web applications
• Exceptional in prototyping and design systems
• Demonstrated understanding of user-centered and data-centric design principles
• Proactive in keeping up with UX trends and influencing UI/UX strategy
• Keen attention to detail, considering comprehensive user flows and their impacts
• Ability to clearly communicate ideas and solutions to teams and partners
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance, for which US citizenship is needed by the US government

• Experience in technical writing
• Experience designing and creating movies in Final Cut or Adobe Premiere Pro
