Overview
The Shelter Solutions Data Science Program Specialist will be responsible for the successful integration of various data sources as well as modeling complex business problems and identifying business insights. Using statistical, algorithmic, data mining and visualization techniques your work with customers and our DuPont team members will further enhance our business intelligence. By translating disparate data sources in structured and unstructured data environments, you can generate insights and predictive analytics that support decision making – challenging the status quo across our global operations.
You will work with an experienced and driven team to leverage our diverse data sets to produce and present meaningful dashboards and reports to leadership and cross-functional team members. Leveraging your program and project management skills, you can participate in and lead the entire process from ideation to proof-of-concept, to data ingestion production, and training including follow-up with business owners and customers to define enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
• Data Collection & Integration – ability to understand how data integration works and improve upon how DuPont works today (Data Lake Processes)
o Acquire access to data sources
o Leverage existing data pipelines and tables
o Discover new data sources, catalog sources, and create a timing for new data source ingestion aligned with established roadmap including documentation of processes
• Data Exploration & Visualization – Leverage Power BI Tool and Databricks specifically to create meaningful automated dashboards and improve solutions based on business feedback
o Apply statistical analysis and visualization techniques to tell a story with data
o Generate hypotheses and identify gaps in data sets
o Resolve data gaps to improve insights and data modeling
• Machine Learning & Analytics
o Integrate domain/business knowledge into machine learning models
o Apply various machine learning techniques
o Test and evolve machine learning models
• Program Management
o Lead and manage all aspects of major programs and projects.
o Develop, implement and monitor program strategies, policies and detailed plans, including establishing timeframes, budgets and specifications.
o Identify and coordinate necessary program/project resources - Developing business cases, including cost-benefit analyses.
Key Skills
• Communication: Ability to work collaboratively with customers and various cross-functional team members (Finance, Digital & Customer Experience, IT Analytics teams, Sales and Marketing, Supply Chain, and Demand Planning, etc.). Ability to clearly convey complex and technical models and topics to multiple levels of management and cross-functional teams.
• Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and achieve deadlines. Anticipates and interprets business needs to design report suites, dashboards and analytical models within existing platforms using built-in solutions to support colleague/leadership requests, reports and metrics and grow revenue and profitability.
• Analytic Ability: Shows strong intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and gets to the root cause of problems to recommend solutions. Displays drive and ambition to understand how data elements fit together including relationships between different types of data to support the evolution of our business.
• Business Results Orientation: Seeks to understand business needs and gets results that have a clear, positive, and direct impact on business performance. Knowledge and capability to apply various technical and statistical techniques to boost project outcomes and deliver the data roadmap.
• Decision Making: Strong critical thinking skills. Understands and balances the trade-offs between model accuracy vs. model interpretability vs. the need for model evolution.
Required Qualifications
• 4-year computer science, statistics, or a related bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred).
• Minimum of 3 years working as a data scientist (1+ years with master’s degree)
• Expertise in Databricks, Python, Dataflow
