Job Description

AECOM’s Philadelphia office is seeking an experienced Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing Field Inspector to join our Field Oversight and monitoring team for the William H. Gray III 30th Street Station Redevelopment Project. AECOM is supporting Amtrak in the delivery of this multi-year project which encompasses a comprehensive redevelopment of the historic station that will see the nearly 100-year-old facility be restored to enhance user experience by modernizing all the building systems, introducing new amenities, reinvigorating the retail offerings, historic preservation/restoration, improving the existing office spaces above the station, and creating a new public plaza along Market Street.

This opportunity involves daily field inspection and documentation of the construction work, monitoring the construction work for compliance with the design plans, specifications, and other contract documents, as well as applicable codes.

The Field Inspector’s Responsibilities Include:

  • Regularly reviewing contractor's work, preparing daily inspection reports to track work performed by the contractor and document project progress with photos
  • Verifying that the contractor’s work conforms to applicable contract drawings, specifications, and other contract documents
  • Performing basic shop drawing review and ensuring procedures and materials installed in the field comply with approved plans and specifications
  • Reviewing contractor’s reports for accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency
  • Consulting with Subject Matter Experts regarding work progress and any construction problems, proactively recommending solutions, and assisting in the implementation of corrective actions
  • Performing office work when needed including but not limited to; preparation of work plans, inspection check lists and tracking logs for construction issues and non-compliance issues
  • Assisting with the tracking and development of turnover and closeout documentation including turnover inspections, as-built drawings, commissioning documents, O&M and Warranty Certificates.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma and 6 years of relative years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education related to construction or construction supervision
  • Experience with building construction techniques and building system installation
  • Valid U.S Driver’s License required. As a condition of employment, the selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review
  • As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Building commissioning experience
  • Ability to use software for collaboration
  • Experience with MS Word and Excel, PDF tools
