About the role

The University of South Florida Office of Multicultural Affairs is hiring a temporary, part-time Student Services Program Specialist.

The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) supports student leaders in developing leadership skills and multicultural competencies by coordinating student-led educational, cultural, and social programs to foster experiences for USF students which create inter-culturally mature global citizens who are prepared to thrive in a global society. These programs help students understand and appreciate each other's talents and contributions, thus creating an environment enabling students to become conscientious global citizens.

OMA graduate and professional staff directly support the work of the Multicultural Programming Board (MPB), a student-led event planning board that coordinates programs for cultural celebration months. OMA is staffed by approximately 12 student leaders between the programming board and front desk student assistant teams, as well as 1 graduate assistant, 1 administrative specialist, 2 coordinators, 1 assistant director, and 1 director that rounds out our team.

This position for Office of Multicultural Affairs will be responsible for the enhancement, advising, mentoring, and leadership development of members on MPB. The Student Services Program Specialist, Temporary will also be responsible for assessment initiatives that will be used to strengthen student programming and collaboration. Additionally, the Student Services Program Specialist, Temporary will work in supporting the Stonewall Suites LLC in collaboration with Residence Education. 

  • Support and model the vision and goals of the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Multicultural Programming Board.
  • Serve as a primary advisor for the Multicultural Programming Board.
  • Serve as the office liaison for Stonewall Suites LLC in collaboration with Residence Education.
  • Lead the research and benchmarking of cultural programs to expand heritage and cultural celebrations.
  • Assist with planning and organization of Week of Welcome (WOW) programs at the start of each semester including Welcome Back Jam and Ice Cream Social.
  • Serve as support staff to departmental programs and initiatives.
  • Support MPB in facilitating monthly cultural programing during specific heritage months.
  • Supervise undergraduate intern(s) and/or student committee members, when applicable.
  • Attend weekly pro/grad staff, MPB, and one on one advisor meetings.
  • Support Student Affairs initiatives by serving on committees, attending events and working with other departments to achieve mission, values, and goals of Student Success.
  • Participate in OMA development and staff training and event staffing rotation.
  • Coordinate other programs and duties as determined. 

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a high school diploma and four years of related experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
