Job Summary:
Oversees and executes lab strategy across the system. Works closely with the markets and regions for implementation and sustainability of approved Adventist Health lab strategies. Collaborates with administrative laboratory leadership and market and region lab leadership stakeholders to form a strategic vision, set growth objectives, and develop programs for achieving more integrated and competitive laboratory systems in the system. Supports outpatient growth strategies where appropriate to enhance volumes through physician alignment, and expand the Adventist Health brand for quality and customer service. Ensures the implementation of approved strategies to create more effective and efficient operations of the multi hospital-based laboratories across the system and works closely and stays aligned with the laboratory services leadership at each market and region.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, biological sciences, chemical sciences or allied health technologies or equivalent: Required
- Master's Degree: Preferred
- Seven years' related experience: Preferred
- Five years' leadership experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license in state of employment or obtains within 6 months of hire: Required
- American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification: Preferred
- National Credentialing Agency (NCA) for Laboratory Personnel certification: Preferred
Essential Functions:
- Executes new lab operating models from planning, implementation, setting key performance indicators and sustainability metrics. Develops and oversees system lab dashboards. Participates in lab governance, system and member of regional governance. Executes on lab Lean redesign and creates a daily management system and daily standard of work.
- Measures performance and productivity in accordance with targets set forth by market, region and system. Reviews lab statistics and lab dashboards to trend, evaluate, improve, streamline operations and workflow based on standard process or best practice at each lab. Seeks input from lab stakeholders and best practice councils to continuously improve workflow.
- Ensures compliance with rules, regulations and accreditation requirements of regulatory agencies, including Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA), US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), College of American Pathologists (CAP), Joint Commission (JC), AABB, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
- Ensures staff provides high quality, accessible, cost effective care, and patient focused services to patients across the continuums, which comply with local, state, and federal requirements. Assists in developing, implementing, and maintaining service standards to meet patient and internal client's expectations.
- Implements and maintains clinical practice standards, budgets, and staff development. Presents in-service programs. Identifies, develops, and implements processes to improve the quality of tests and services. Identifies and recommends opportunities to improve department systems.
