Sous Chef

Salary: $65,000 - $70,000 / year

Other Forms of Compensation: $2,500 One-time Sign-on Bonus 

Pay Grade: 12

Job Summary:

 

The Sous Chef is a key part of our culinary team at a 300 bed children's hospital in Austin! We serve approximately 350 patient meals daily, along with managing vending, a coffee shop, and specialized catering. Reporting to the Executive Chef, this role will lead a team of 24-hourly Associates to help maintain culinary and sanitation standards in our kitchen. Anticipated schedule will be varied and include some evenings, holidays and weekends.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

• Assists the Executive Chef with handling cost controls and control expenditures for the account
• Assists the Executive Chef with planning and crafting menus
• Assists leading culinary team
• Rolls out new culinary programs in conjunction with Company marketing and culinary team

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• A.O.S. Degree in Culinary Arts or culinary certificate and required experience
• Culinary management/supervisory experience is required
• Catering experience a plus
• High volume, sophisticated foodservice operations experience - helpful
• Institutional and batch cooking experiences desired
• Knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
• Must be experienced with computers; to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), Outlook, E-mail and the Internet
• Must be willing to participate in patient satisfaction programs/activities
• ServSafe certified - highly desirable
