This role in summary

Whirlpool is currently seeking qualified candidates for an Advanced Experience Designer opening to join our Global Design organization. This is onsite at our Design, MI location.

Your responsibilities will include

• Create compelling and innovative user experiences for connected and future appliances on mobile and product platforms.
• Develop prototype concepts for the next big innovation in consumer appliance interactions.
• Develop and maintain experience blueprints and UX architecture to guide user experience design and development, mapping out the entire user journey, including touchpoints and interactions.
• Champion user-centered design principles and ensure that the user's perspective is central to all design and development processes.
• Work closely with engineering, marketing, and product management teams to align design strategies with business goals and technical constraints.
• Structure and facilitate research studies and ethnography to deeply understand user needs, behaviors, and experiences.
• Lead and facilitate innovation workshops and brainstorming sessions to generate new ideas and solutions.
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to the professional growth and development of the design team.
• Ensure that all designs comply with accessibility standards and best practices to create inclusive experiences for all users.
• Stay abreast of the latest trends, tools, and technologies in design and user experience, and continuously seek opportunities for professional development.
• Collaborate with all facets of the design organization, across brands, categories, and regions, to drive a consistent connected vision throughout the company.

Minimum requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Design, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology or Engineering.
• 2+ years of UX Design experience in the Consumer Electronics, Appliance or Automotive industry

Preferred skills and experiences

• An understanding of the human-centered design process.
• Ability to lead and ideate products from scratch and improve. features, all with a user-centered design process.
• Skills in communicating and influencing product design strategy.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and familiarity with technical constraints and limitations as they apply to designing for multiple platforms and modalities.
