Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Vice Dean/CFO for Penn Dental Medicine (PDM) and in close collaboration with the Director of Research Services and the Senior Director of Budget and Analysis, this position is responsible for supporting and facilitating decision-making in key areas of financial management and strategic planning. The Director of Fiscal Operations will have overall managerial responsibility and ownership of Research Services, ensuring the effective administration and growth of its portfolio of grants and research funds. This position will conduct objective analysis of the financial performance of certain departments and centers within Penn Dental Medicine and will develop an in-depth understanding of the business and financial structure. The role involves conducting financial and operational analysis to support planning efforts that span a wide range of initiatives, analyzing data from various systems to produce regular and ad hoc financial reports, and providing staff mentoring and training for finance and business professionals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Facilitates decision-making in key areas of financial management, budgeting, and strategic planning; liaison to PDM Administration, budget and research services, and representing PDM at various University councils/committees. - 20%
  • Exercise sound stewardship of financial resources to ensure compliance with related policies and procedures, including PDM, University, federal, and any other regulations; and provide leadership, professional development, and supervision of direct reports. - 20%
