General Description and Classification Standards:
Manages, directs and coordinates the repair, maintenance and installation of machines and equipment in the maintenance of buildings, grounds and utility systems of plants. This is a journey level position which performs a full range of semi-skilled and skilled tasks. Duties may include, but are not limited to: plumbing, welding and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, chemical feeders, chlorinators, control units, pumps, water tanks and other production equipment using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufacturer's specifications.
Supervision Received:
Works under minimal supervision. May assist in training, orienting, or observing lower level associate, apprentice, or semi-skilled employee in the group.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, chemical feeders, chlorinators, control units, pumps, water tanks, screens and other production equipment using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments
Adjusts functional parts of devices
Identifies equipment maintenance needs; records mechanical equipment readings; lubricates and clean parts
Repairs and troubleshoots equipment
Observes mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of trouble
Dismantles devices to gain access to repair or replace defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools and power tools
Repairs electrical equipment; welds and uses cutting torches
Performs routine mechanical, electrical, welding, or machining maintenance activities on equipment including lubrication, inspection, and replacement parts; order and maintain stock levels of lubricants used in plant equipment.
