PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Are you an experienced maintenance professional looking for a stable career with great benefits and opportunities to grow? The City of Aurora is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to help keep Aurora Water's facilities safe, reliable, and operating at their best while supporting essential water, sewer, and stormwater services for our community.

In this hands-on role, you'll perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repair building systems, and complete a variety of facility improvement projects. If you take pride in quality workmanship, enjoy solving problems, and have commercial or residential maintenance experience, we'd love to have you join our team.

Salary to be commensurate with experience. 
The hiring range for this position is $23.40 - $29.25 per hour.  

This is classified as VHBE (Variable Hour Benefit Eligible), where the selected candidate will work an average of 40 hours per week.  The selected candidate will be eligible to elect Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, accrue paid time off, and receive 11 paid holidays. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Build and support cross-functional relationships between divisions, internal partners and external vendors/contractors.
  • Deliver high quality work products.
  • Be responsive, courteous and customer service oriented.
  • Assist in maintaining daily operations of Aurora Water SEAM facility.
  • Provide vendor/contractor support and escort throughout the facility. Provide direction to vendors as needed and ensure vendors align with our policies and procedures
  • Monitor Building Automation System (BAS) alarms, investigate and troubleshoot issues, and reset system alarms.
  • Respond to mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC issues, investigate cause, remedy issue / coordinate contractor response.
  • Maintain dry fire suppression system.
  • Coordinate with service contractors to identify, diagnose, and repair issues.
  • Communicate effectively via phone, email and other written correspondence.
  • Provide excellent customer service to staff and colleagues; receive, log, prioritize, and coordinate requests received via work order, phone calls, and email.
  • Collect and maintain job related data and identify trends for improvement and provide necessary reports to management.
  • Coordinate and perform small office projects and maintenance.
  • Create and install facility signage as needed.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. 

 

Education:    

  • High School diploma or GED.  

  

Minimum Experience:    

  • 2 years demonstrated ability working in a fast-paced facilities and operations setting.
