POSITION OVERVIEW

JOB SUMMARY:

Director of the University of West Florida Water and Vessel Engineering (WAVE) Program at the Port of Pensacola. Advise and manage research teams of undergraduate and graduate students, coordinate research in marine engineering and related fields, collaborate with UWF faculty to enhance economic development in Northwest Florida. Supervise undergraduate project teams.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A PhD in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. At least two years experience in research and development in a marine engineering related application.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A strong commitment to teaching, academic research and service commensurate with appointment as a tenured full professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Physical Requirements: Occasional and/or light lifting required. Limited exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, etc., but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely results would be cuts, bruises, etc.
