Job Description

This role reports to the Chief Pilot and is responsible for safely and efficiently operating the aircraft while in compliance with all applicable regulations, rules, directives, and company procedures. 

 

Essential Functions 

 

  • Operates the company aircraft in a safe and efficient manner while in compliance with all Visa guidelines and policy, manufacturers’ limitations and manuals, governmental rules and regulations, and any other requirements of agencies having jurisdiction over the flight.    
  • Operates as PIC in an unrestricted capacity to all international destinations.  
  • Ensures that a proper preflight inspection has been accomplished before takeoff including but not limited to the aircraft, its publications, documentation, equipment, passenger service items, fuel, weather conditions at destination, enroute, alternate airports and departure points, customs, permits, and airport/runway suitability. 
  • Coordinates with and keeps Maintenance, Operations, and the Chief Pilot informed on matters that may affect the conduct of the flight. 
  • Ensures that all embarked persons (crew and passengers) possess valid and current passports, visas and, when applicable, documents of U.S.A. Resident status (“green cards”) appropriate for the flight. 
  • Completes all required reports in a timely and accurate manner. 
  • Maintains currency for all ratings, qualifications, and certificates as required. 
  • Pays and reports the expenses of contract crewmembers for a given trip to the maximum extent practicable.
  • Ensures the aircraft is clean and prepared for flight with all provisions on board for the safety and comfort of the passengers. 
  • Supervises the activities of the flight crew, and coordinates the functioning of all crewmembers assigned to the flight. 
  • Monitors crew performance, shares knowledge with crewmembers and evaluates crewmember potential for advancement. 
  • Makes decisions necessary to start, delay, or cancel flights and deviate the flight from planned route or destination when operating conditions dictate. 
  • Performs collateral duties as required. 
  • Expert skills in decision-making and building partnerships internally and externally. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate and build cross-functional relationships. 
  • Work with all levels of personnel and effectively interact with senior and executive management.  
  • Excellent planning and organization skills and business judgment, including the ability to anticipate the impact of decisions & initiatives. 
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement activities to exceed customer expectations and help promote a professional organization. 

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD
  • FAA Airline Transport Pilot certificate with appropriate type rating endorsed as English Proficient
  • Valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate
  • Minimum 5,000 hours flight time (2,500 hours PIC -2,000 hours in jet aircraft)
  • Successful completion of flight, ground, and simulator training in the last 12 months
  • Knowledge of FAA and ICAO regulations, weather and air traffic control rules
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and extended periods away from home
  • Complies with Visa Inc. COVID-19 corporate policy
  • Maintains appropriate inoculations for worldwide travel
