The Electric and Electronic HW Systems Engineer is the lead to design, develop and validate parts under his/her responsibility for the assigned programs. The Electric and Electronic HW Systems Engineer is responsible to design module interactions at system level to comply with Regulatory, Corporate and Local Requirements, considering the WCR (Worldwide Customers Requirements), ES (Engineering Specifications) and SDS (Systems Design specifications), Feature Specifications as well as the Manufacturing, vehicle and Assembly requirements.
What you'll do...
Lead Functional Design of ECUs (I/O extenders, Pedestrian Alert sounder systems, Generic Sounder systems, Horn, Battery Backup sounders, etc.).
Responsible to write and update, Design Rules, Design Verification Methods, CETPs, Packaging Guidelines, Functionality RQTs.
Develop and maintain the ECUs quality documents (P-diagram, DFMEA, DVP&R, etc.).
Lead resolution of shortage issues.
Coordinate alternate design options in shorts periods of time.
Develop plans to introduce program requests driven by shortage issues.
Support Modular catalogs and migration plans for the modules
Interact with Feature owners, EMC, WCCA, Reliability, Power supply, NetCom, Marketing, Quality, TVM, Purchasing and the Application Engineers to implement features and assure best possible design and cost at J1.
Release Global requirements and design rules in FEDE.
Support proper Cascade of requirements to their modules CPSC (Corporate Product Systems Classification) .
Manage VSEM, Teamcenter, FEDE, JIRA, AIMS, QED, WERS, GSAR, ECATS and Control Tech.
In vehicle troubleshooting for CAN, Ethernet and LIN ECUs to mitigate SW and HW issues.
Technical assistance to supplier to develop software and hardware.
Continuous support to Ford manufacturing plants.
Review quality metrics and supplier analysis for warranty parts to develop improvements in design or supplier manufacturing processes to increase quality.
Contribute to corporate and department TVM (Total Value Management) and quality objectives.
Report and present status of open issues to upper management.
Ensure Test setups are updated and in optimal conditions for evaluations all the time.
Proficiency using laboratory equipment like oscilloscope, current probes, voltage differential probes, power supply etc.
You'll have...
Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or similar.
6+ years D&R experience in Electronic Systems, Software or Features / Systems.
Even better, you may have...
Master's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or similar.
Knowledge of automotive industry environment, working experience preferred.
Knowledge of materials properties and production process.
Technical knowledge of Vehicle Architectures and Electronic modules and GPDS experience from PS to OKTB.
Ability to understand critical path of Electrical Modules Software and Hardware implementation.
Requirements engineering experience / Hardware and Software Specifications interpretation (Logic and Physical Schematics / Device Transmittals).
Working knowledge of Engineering disciplines (P-diagram, DFMEA, DVP&R, etc.).
A comprehensive understanding of electrical Subsystem Design Specifications.
Deep knowledge of Electrical design and Electronic functionality.
Knowledge of EOL processes. Ability to communicate and interact with others in cross-function team environment.
Be aware of Worldwide Engineering changes and proceed accordingly.
Excellent organization, communication, time/program management and presentation skills.
Experience with supplier management and negotiations.
Attitude to learn and teamwork.
