What We’re Looking For:
The Senior Media Specialist works within the 2U Learning division as part of the Media Operations team. As a member of the media operations team, they will be directly involved in coordinating and executing various media and post-production workflows from acquisition of raw media through final delivery of academic products. They will also work with all ancillary post-production related equipment and peripherals that enable the ingest, transcode, video editing, audio mixing, video quality assurance, and delivery of media assets. This role will collaborate with internal 2U stakeholders including the Media Operations and Video Production and Post Production teams, video editors, external vendors, and on occasion university partner faculty to support our mission to deliver dynamic and quality academic content. A successful Sr. Media Specialist will have strong technical, editorial, organizational, and problem solving skills to help manage the video/media post-production process. The position requires someone who has the ability to meet tight deadlines, can seamlessly juggle multiple projects simultaneously, is an excellent communicator, applies intuitive decision making, and has a keen eye for detail.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Support media operations and post production staff in managing various aspects of media workflows/processes
- Communication between internal stakeholders and vendors, regarding video/media requests, project requirements, and deadlines
- Create, maintain, and recommend improvements to the systems, processes, and documentation of the Media Operations team on an ongoing basis
- Help to provide guidance and training to newly hired Media Coordinators, troubleshoot issues that are flagged from the video editing team, and oversee monthly metrics and data analysis reporting for the Media Operations team
- Provide oversight over various special projects and requests related to media operations functions included complex partner asset requests, continuous improvement initiatives, and advanced editorial requirements for particular media assets
- Coordinate course post-production schedules, ingest, editing, video quality assurance, and final delivery assignments, and help track and maintain media asset deliverables via various systems and reports
- Execute file-based ingest workflows of various formats of acquired raw media, including on-location, studio, and remote recorded media, including troubleshooting technical issues as they arise with support from Engineering team
- Gather and apply various technical and editorial metadata to both raw and final media assets within our media asset management system, IPV Curator
- Take on additional duties and responsibilities as required
Things That Should Be In Your Background:
- 5+ years of professional video/digital media post-production and/or media operations experience
- Proven ability to exercise sound decision making in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with Digital/Media Asset Management software, and/or Product/Project Management Systems--Atlassian, Jira a bonus
- Familiarity with metadata best practices with media management environment
- Working knowledge of related post-production software including Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop), and/or other NLE systems. Video editing skills are preferred.
- Understanding of various media formats including resolution, size, and video frame rate.
- Experience with various technology and software solutions such as Google apps, Microsoft Office, Amazon Web Services, Slack and overall web-savviness
- Impeccable verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate in a courteous, tactful, and concise manner
- Supremely organized, uses good judgment, and capable of handling multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- A positive, proactive and collaborative attitude
This is a hybrid position requiring at least two days per week at our office in Lanham, MD.
