THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE

Santander Digital Services is looking for a Senior Cryptography Developer, based out of Madrid, to build the future in cryptography management as part of the Santander Global Cryptography Team and its Santander Quantum Threat Program.

We’re shaping the way we work through innovation, cutting-edge technology, collaboration and the freedom to explore new ideas. To succeed in this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the research, development, and testing of cryptographic tools and solutions.

  • Developing and implementing cryptographic discovery, management and compliance solutions.

  • Integrating these tools and cryptographic processes with other corporate tools.

  • Establishing analytical models for reporting and compliance.

Apply if you have strong programming background to develop, evaluate and/or customize tools and scripts of moderate complexity, particularly in the field of cryptography, PKI and/or cryptographic key management solutions. You must also have soft-skills to engage with local experts in cryptography and build a strong collaboration framework with them.

Professional Experience

  • More than 5 years of experience programming in Python.(Required)

  • Other languages like C++ and Java are a plus (Preferred).

  • Experience working with cryptography and cryptographic tools, like PKI, key management, HSMs. (Preferred)
     

Education

  • BsC, Master or PhD in computer science, telecommunications, mathematics, physics, etc. Your experience counts more than your degrees. (Required)

  • Current understanding of post-quantum cryptography (PQC) concepts and the strategic dependencies required to transition from classical public-key cryptography—especially in financial industry environments. (Preferred)
     

Languages

  • English (Required)

  • Spanish (Preferred)
     

Hard Skills

  • Analysing patterns in formatted and unformatted data to extract metrics and create compliance controls. (Required)

  • General knowledge of cryptography, cryptographic protocols (TLS, IPSEC, SSH), Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and cryptographic key management processes. (Required)

  • Sysadmin and system automation knowledge, specifically around configuration of cryptographic parameters in TLS, IPSEC and SSH in public clouds, Windows and/or Linux servers and/or network devices. (Preferred)
     

Soft Skills

  • Continuous learning mindset, with a commitment to staying abreast of emerging cryptographic technologies, threats, and regulatory
