Job Description Summary:
Advises senior leadership on areas related to expertise obtained through extensive work history and connections built throughout career. Obtains and analyzes information in order to provide expert advice as a basis for making critical strategic decisions. Develops and assists in the implementation of such strategies.Incumbents typically serve in this capacity when transitioning from a former leadership role in the organization. Issues, roles, and formats may be unstructured and without ground rules. Incumbent deals with important or controversial issues. Decisions have long-term implications, affect continuing organization operations, and have a cross-organizational impact. Regularly interfaces with executives on highest-level functional issues, providing recommendations and solutions with full understanding of impact and needs. Typically reports to President, Executive Officer, or other senior executive.
Job Description:
**Note that this is a part-time role, not expected to exceed an average of 10 hours per week***
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
1. Serves as an expert and stays current with relevant developments at a national, state, and local level that may affect decisions.
2. Maintains close professional relations with other experts and professionals within the same field of expertise to keep current on best practices.
3. Uses both quantitative and qualitative analysis to select and recommend specific opportunities.
4. Studies current practices with a watchful eye for questionable processes and or procedures.
5. Prepares and presents reports detailing basis for recommendations to management and decision-making groups.
6. Maintains close observation of current trends and changes in the field.
7. Maintains an appropriate standard of confidentiality. When handling secure, privileged, sensitive, or confidential information and matters, maintains strict confidence and exercises care to prevent disclosure to others. Accesses confidential information for work-related reasons only, following the policies and procedures of the organization. Ensures that any privileged, sensitive, or confidential information is securely stored, disposed of, and transmitted according to the Institutional guidance.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across the organization and with constituents outside of the organization. Ability to manage and maintain privileged, sensitive, and confidential information and matters appropriately. Ability to solve intellectual problems of substantial variety and complexity using originality and ingenuity. Ability to operate using substantial latitude for independent judgment and action. Ability to work successfully in a team environment. Experience working in complex environments with a high degree of organizational effectiveness. Ability to develop relationships with co-workers and employees in other National Academies’ departments through effective communication. Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to effectively interact with all levels of employees.
Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Master’s degree in a related field or equivalent knowledge.
Minimum Experience: Fifteen years of related professional experience.
Preferred Experience: At least 10 years of C-Suite experience within the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. In-depth experience, and understanding of National Academy by-laws, policies, and procedures to effectively, and efficiently make and implement recommendations.
Required Licenses, Certification or Registration: None.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Controls: Reports to CFO. Independently establishes goals and objectives.
Compensation Range: The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine support equity for all, fairness, and transparency in our compensation programs. An estimated compensation range for this position is $102.46 - $179.29 per hour, plus potential overtime. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will be based on the candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, and work experience, commensurate with compensation of current employees in comparable positions with similar knowledge, skills, and work experience, and subject to budget parameters.
