What will you do?

A day in the life of a Maintenance Mechanic at VF looks a little like this.

The General Maintenance Mechanic will ensure all systems operate correctly throughout the general Distribution Center daily. The position is based at, and supports, the Dickies Distribution Center on Blue Mound/156 in Haslet, TX (Dickies is a wholly owned subsidiary of VF Corporation).

Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.

• Effectively execute the day-to-day maintenance requirements needed for the assigned shift.
• Maintain a good working knowledge of fully automated conveyor and PLC control systems, high & low voltage electrical systems, along with knowledge and supply of personal hand tools.
• Partner with the Building and Facilities Manager, Shift Leads and other facility personnel to ensure all systems operate correctly throughout the day.
• Complete daily repairs and preventative maintenance to ensure the Distribution Center continues operating efficiently and minimizing down time.
• Other maintenance responsibilities will center around repair/maintenance of fire suppression system, alarm system, and HVAC systems.

What do you need to succeed?

• High school diploma or equivalent and training certifications in electro-mechanical or machining trades
• Valid Driver’s License

The foundation skills you will need in this position are:

• Sufficient knowledge in hand and power tools
• Understanding of basic electrical components in both AD and DC voltage
• Minimum of 1-3 years related maintenance experience or an Associate’s Degree in related trades
• Proven proficiency at a proficient level in automated electrical equipment, and full capability to perform a broad range of electro-mechanical repairs.
• Must demonstrate ability to be very detailed oriented, organized, and effective at time management.
• Demonstrated ability to work with minimal direction; excellent oral/written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills.
• Must have the ability to climb and work at heights of up to 70 ft.
• Must have the ability to lift items up to 50 lbs
• Must be able to work overtime and weekends as assigned; may be called on off hours for emergency consultation or call-in service.

There are also a few skills that are not required but preferred.
