Overview:
The CDC Foundation is seeking candidates for a full-time Senior Epidemiologist position to assist the viral hepatitis program manager to plan and direct statewide program for the control of viral hepatitis lead and coordinate work efforts across the Illinois Department of Health. This position collects, analyzes, and interprets statistical data and prepares epidemiologic reports.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in public health/epidemiology/demography/biostatistics or related social sciences· Four (4) years of related professional experience in population studies or applied epidemiology· Proficient in database management systems· Familiar with advanced statistical methods and proficient in their use· Willing and able to travel to local health departments (LHDs) for onsite technical support· Proficiency in writing comprehensive statistical and analytical reports· Excellent written and oral communications· Ability to remain calm under intense stress and a fast-paced environment· Passionate and solution-oriented· Knowledge and experience in informatics would be an added advantage· Experience using, I-NEDSS or Salesforce is an advantage
Responsibilities:
· Assists the viral hepatitis program manager to plan and direct statewide program for the control of viral hepatitis including: the development of research, evaluation, epidemiologic analysis of viral hepatitis data, and viral hepatitis reports.· Collaborates with the viral hepatitis program manager and viral hepatitis surveillance officers in the development of planning, and evaluation documents involving the Viral Hepatitis Control Program.· Assists viral hepatitis program manager to plan and direct statewide program for the control of viral hepatitis and development of the Viral Hepatitis Elimination Plan for Illinois through the IVHC (Illinois Viral Hepatitis Coalition).· Works with the viral hepatitis surveillance officers to outline the processes involved in the development of a viral hepatitis surveillance program.· Develops and implements programs to address the needs in viral hepatitis data reporting and analyses required by the Centers for disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Responsible for the quality and timely development of viral hepatitis reports.· Assists in the development of operating policies and procedures for viral hepatitis surveillance reporting.· Designs and develops statistical methodology for epidemiological research of viral hepatitis. Conducts analysis of data and provides interpretation of and consultation regarding research results.· Works with the surveillance specialist in managing the various viral hepatitis databases and applications to ensure accurate and timely reporting as needed.· Provides epidemiologic consultation (through the application of viral hepatitis structured policies and guidelines) to viral hepatitis control partners and stakeholders.· Ensures that data released to the public and outside partners do not contain identifiable health information, including aggregate data that can be manipulated to identify individuals diagnosed or suspected of having viral hepatitis infection.· Works with program team to conduct gap analysis in communities or population of interest.
