We offer competitive compensation, professional development opportunities, and a collaborative work environment.</p> <p><strong>About The Opportunity:</strong></p> <p>Tools for Humanity is looking for a Senior Electronics Hardware Engineer to help work on developing, testing, and upgrading our flagship hardware devices, including the Orb. This role will work closely with Engineering (AI, Software &amp; Mechanics), Manufacturing, and Industrial Design to create and produce cutting-edge technologies at scale.</p> <p> <strong>Core Responsibilities:</strong><strong><br/><br/></strong></p> <ul> <li>Own the electronic design of PCBAs for the Orb, ensuring they meet performance and reliability standards.</li> <li>Develop and implement advanced electrical systems and circuits for the Orb.</li> <li>Evaluate and verify existing hardware designs, identifying and resolving any flaws.</li> <li>Diagnose and repair hardware issues to maintain optimal functionality.</li> <li>Oversee the qualification, verification, and validation processes for developed hardware.</li> <li>Commission and repair electrical assemblies, ensuring compliance with design specifications.</li> <li>Program microcontrollers in C with real-time operating systems (FreeRTOS and Zephyr) for testing and device bring-up.</li> <li>Coordinate with software engineers to validate software releases on hardware and address potential issues.</li> <li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate product design and enhance overall performance.</li> <li>Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.<br/><br/></li> </ul> <p><strong>About You:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.</li> <li>8-10 years of experience in electronics product development, encompassing concept to design, planning, circuit development, and multilayer layout creation with E-CAD tools, preferably Altium or EAGLE.</li> <li>Proficiency in circuit simulation tools.</li> <li>Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements. </li> <li>Solid understanding of embedded systems and microcontrollers.</li> <li>Experience using measuring equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and VNA.</li> <li>Hands-on experience in developing and integrating embedded camera-based hardware systems.</li> <li>Good programming skills in C for microcontroller development, with experience in real-time operating systems (RTOS), preferably FreeRTOS and Zephyr.</li> <li>Experience with network connectivity, including BLE, Wi-Fi, and LTE, with expertise in antenna optimization.</li> <li>Ability to Inspire and mentor the team by leveraging in-depth technical knowledge and extensive experience.</li> <li>Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.</li> <li>Proficient in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.</li> <li>Strong drive and work ethic to lead projects to successful completion.<br/><br/></li> </ul> <p><strong>Nice-to-Haves:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience creating automated PCBA testers for mass production.</li> <li>Experience with hardware security, including HSM, TPMs, and secure elements.</li> <li>Experience with decentralized manufacturing processes.</li> <li>Expertise in conducting DFMEA, identifying and mitigating potential issues.</li> <li>Previous experience with fast-moving startups.</li> </ul> <h4><strong>What we offer: </strong></h4> <ul> <li>An open and collaborative office space in Munich’s Parkstadt Schwabing</li> <li>30 vacation days on top of public holidays for the region</li> <li>Monthly Phone Reimbursement or a company device</li> <li>Tools for Humanity covers your Deutschland Ticket costs</li> <li>Free Lunch and Dinner whenever you’re in the office! </li> </ul> <p> </p>
