Job Responsibilities
- Monitors patients in the Imaging department to provide a safe and comfortable environment, as evidenced by a lack of negative outcomes. Monitors patients' conditions consistently while reporting problems immediately to appropriate personnel.
- Demonstrates the ability to assess patients' conditions and selects the most appropriate mode of transportation, as evidenced by compliance with physician orders and nursing/Radiology practice standards.
- Communicates effectively with nursing/Radiology personnel in the event of transport problems, as evidenced by timely and appropriate patient transfer. Uses safe and appropriate transport methods and body lifting techniques.
- Cleans transportation equipment after each use and performs weekly or as-needed checks on equipment and reports malfunctions. Returns all equipment to storage areas as evidenced by immediate availability when needed.
- Obtains required documentation for Imaging exam(s) prior to the date of exam and verifies on date of exam with patient and exam personnel.
- Greets customers at the point of service entrance, verifies patient identification and exam/procedure, assists with directions by escorting customer to the destination or procedural area(s), interacts with patients to gather appropriate information relating to the exam, and communicates essential information with procedural area personnel.
- Conducts post-exam phone calls, as requested, to ensure customer satisfaction. Makes exam or record request inquiries with referring physician offices, hospitals, Imaging, and/or Laboratory/Pathology departments.
- Serves as liaison between Imaging and Health Informatics (HIM) to ensure proper documentation is on file.
- Performs copy, file, and record release functions to patient/guardian/physician offices ensuring appropriate release of information completion and verification.
- Assist healthcare professionals in gaining access to Radiology Informatics products and Radiologist/Cardiologist/visiting physicians with patient/exam/record requests.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.
