The Research Assistant will work in Lin Lab, a dynamic lab at the intersection of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and mental health. This role is particularly focused on exploring privacy-preserving machine learning methods in mental health settings, with tasks including but not limited to deidentification in multi-modal medical records, and analyzing real-world evidence in text, image, video, EHR, and audio. The candidate will contribute to developing research prototypes and clinical application interfaces for patients and doctors across mobile, web, and desktop platforms. Additionally, the role involves preparing research publications, grants, and intellectual property (IP) submissions.
- Research & Development: Develop and implement privacy-preserving machine learning models and algorithms, particularly for use in mental health settings.
- Prototype Development: Design and build research prototypes and clinical application interfaces for various platforms, including mobile, web, and desktop.
- Data Management: Work with multi-modal medical records, including deidentification and data security across text, image, video, EHR, and audio data.
- Grant & Publication Support: Assist in preparing research publications, grant applications, and IP submissions. Contribute to publications in top AI conferences such as AAAI, IJCAI, NeurIPS, ICML, etc.
- Collaboration & Mentorship: Support research collaborations, mentorship, and guidance on technology transfer. Engage in industry connections and utilize access to the Mount Sinai datasets, the largest healthcare network in New York.
- Depending on the role, a minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required as per MS Health System hiring policy. Otherwise, Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D as applicable.
- Experience:
- Prior research experience in privacy-preserving methods, particularly within the field of AI/ML.
- Experience with large language models (LLMs) and multi-modal data handling is a plus.
- Proven track record of publications in top AI conferences (AAAI, IJCAI, NeurIPS, ICML etc.).
- Skills: Strong programming skills, experience with data management and analysis, proficiency in developing applications across different platforms (mobile, web, desktop).
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills, ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment, strong problem-solving abilities.
