Role Description:

The DataScope suite of applications is part of our Pricing and Reference Service business. It is a respected application used in the wider finance industry where clients can download both market data in bulk form or in customized reports. The application has 4k+ external clients who consume financial data to analyse funds and the market position of global industry players.

In this role, you'll be joining our Enterprise Data Solutions as a Backend Developer (C++): serving the entire spectrum of data needs across asset classes, latency and delivery mechanisms including real-time data and news, reference and legal entity data.

Candidate Profile / Key Skills:

Tech Profile/Required Skills

• Current knowledge of C++ standards and specifications, preferably both C++98 and C++11.
• Proficiency in C++ compliant languages such as C, Java, and Python.
• Knowledge of SQL and JSON
• Analysis of business requirements to identify flexible and pragmatic design changes to development and production architecture.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent people skills and emotional intelligence.
• Good working cloud knowledge (Azure preferred)

Nice to Have skills:

• Modern development practices – scrum, CI/CD, BDD, automation, Infrastructure as Code.
• LUA
• Linux/Unix Administration
• ActiveMQ
• JDK
• ELK (Elastic Search, Logstash, Kibana)
• Financial Market data experience

Experience

• Previous experience of LSEG’s DataScope suite of applications highly preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years' experience as a C++ software developer; C++ certification.

• Enterprise-scale application development experience using C++/C on Unix/Linux platform.
• Practical Experience with all of the following:
  • SOAP/REST API Services
  • JSON and XML
  • SQL
  • Linux/Unix – general usage and scripting
  • SSH
  • Python
  • Version Control Systems such as Mercurial or Git
  • Integration Technologies such as message queues and ESB
  • Real time application/low latency applications with very high data volumes.

Detailed Responsibilities:

• Implements features, adjusts and supports solutions according to business requirements from product managers.
• Improves technical solutions to make them more stable and maintainable.
• Provides assistance to 2nd and 3rd line support teams to analyze and resolve data and behavioral issues from clients.
• Collaborates with the software development team on application design and development.
• Develops knowledge and understanding of technologies in LSEG and utilises these in their own scope of work, to create a network within the company.
• Adapts existing patterns to develop robust solution and provides expert knowledge on coding.
• Optimizes software by performing maintenance, updates, and upgrades.
• Documents processes and maintaining software development records.
• Keeps up to date with C++ standards and advancements in application development.
