Hapag-Lloyd’s system landscape is undergoing a significant transformation from on-premises to cloud, expanding in multiple dimensions. This includes collaboration solutions, FICO solutions, and especially our “Freight Information System,” the backbone of our shipping business and an industry benchmark. Join us on this journey: lead the enterprise architecture function by providing strategic architectural direction, ensuring Biz-IT alignment, and road-mapping the transformation to our target landscape.
As an Enterprise Architect, you will take responsibility for at least one of the following Architecture Capabilities: EA Governance, IT Portfolio Optimization, Dataflow & Information Architecture, Business Architecture, or IT Transformation Planning. As part of our EAM team, you will ensure that Hapag-Lloyd’s IT strategy aligns with its business strategy and mission. You will design the enterprise transformation roadmap, principles, and standards for IT accordingly. You will establish company-wide architecture transparency and foster architectural thinking using the EAM repository – LeanIX. Additionally, you will drive the EA governance committees and processes for the preparation, coordination, and communication of enterprise architecture decisions based on business requirements.
EA Governance:
- Develop the EA function, including processes, roles, responsibilities, and governance.
- Organize and lead Enterprise Architecture Boards and Communities of Practice to prepare, coordinate, communicate, and review architecture decisions.
- Define architectural principles, policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards based on Hapag-Lloyd’s business and IT strategy and regulatory requirements.
IT Portfolio Optimization:
- Assess the IT portfolio and investments to track architectural changes and improvements.
- Manage the IT product, application, and technology portfolio, and develop strategies for functional, technical, and cost optimization or modernization.
- Lead the evaluation of demands to fit into the future enterprise architecture and principles.
Dataflow & Information Architecture:
- Drive the information and data flow architecture and integration technology stack. Visualize data flows and interfaces to assess and optimize dependencies.
- Operate a central EAM repository and guide other architects in maintaining accurate architectural data.
Business Architecture:
- Manage Hapag-Lloyd’s business capability map and ownership.
- Understand business and IT strategies, goals, and objectives to effectively allocate business capabilities.
- Provide architecture analysis and planning for enterprise, business, application, and infrastructure layers.
Transformation Planning:
- Drive the development, alignment, and documentation of the architecture vision, future enterprise architecture, and roadmap in line with Hapag-Lloyd’s business strategy and IT landscape.
- Advise other architects in solution planning and design, and support in solving cross-domain issues.
- Deep knowledge and interest in business capability-based planning, information and data flow architecture methodology
- Multi-year experience in complex projects, Enterprise or Solution Architecture work or Biz-IT alignment in large organizations.
- Experience in documenting AS-IS vs. TO-BE architectures, road-mapping, and dependency analysis.
- Enterprise architect certification is appreciated. (TOGAF, LeanIX, iSAQB etc.)
- Broad knowledge of different system types (off-the-shelf vs. custom-made) and their integration
- Completed studies in computer science or comparable or completed vocational training with several years of experience in project and architecture environments.
- Strong communication skills, self-responsibility, and team player, being a bridge builder in a complex systems landscape between various IT teams and our business stakeholders.
- Commercial & architectural thinking mindset and experience with make-or-buy decision making.
- Working in an agile work environment
- Willingness to travel occasionally to Hamburg and work in a distributed team.
- Very good command of written and spoken English. Basic knowledge of German is appreciated.
