About the role

The Assistant Chief coordinates and supervises the delivery of radiation treatment services to assist in patient treatments.

  1.  Coordinates and supervises the delivery of radiation services to assist in patient treatments. Provides radiation service coverage as required.

  2. Assigns staff based on workload requirements and changing priorities.

  3. Assists the System Chief Technical Director in the development, implementation and maintenance of quality control procedures for equipment and techniques to achieve a high standard of care.

  4. Holds conferences with staff to disseminate new policy decisions and protocols and to ensure compliance with Federal, State and industry standards.

  5. Manages various personnel functions including hiring, coaching, disciplinary actions and terminations.

  6. Serves as a member of the quality improvement committee. Establishes and implements quality improvement plans for the technical division ensuring compliance with all quality control regulations and standards.

  7. Functions as an intra-departmental liaison between physicians, therapists, treatment planning staff, physics, nurses and other support staff to ensure that the patients receive timely and accurate treatments.

  8. Develops in conjunction with the medical and treatment planning teams, new policies, techniques, devices and protocols for the treatment of patients with radiation therapy.

  9. Maintains and enhances professional growth and development through seminars, professional associations to keep abreast of trends in the profession and to assist in quality improvement initiatives. 

  10. Other duties as assigned

Education Requirements                                                                                                                 

BA/BS, Radiation Therapy (applicable Radiation Therapist experience may be substituted for a four year degree at the case-by-case support of Radiation Services senior leadership)

 

Experience Requirements                                                                                                                


 

5+ years’ experience in Radiation Therapy, with at least 2 years supervisory experience preferred

 

Licensing and Certification Requirements                                                            

Name: Current NYS Radiation Therapy licensure
