The Ohio State University at Newark and Central Ohio Technical College invite applications for a full-time, cost-shared Director of Marketing and Communications. This is professional, highly responsible work in directing and managing college- and campus-wide activities to maintain a positive public image for Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) and The Ohio State University at Newark, and to promote an understanding of, and support for, its programs and services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for directing, initiating, and executing plans for internal and external communications, marketing, and media relations, and providing support for college/campus initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs, initiates, and executes internal and external communications, marketing, and media relations strategies.
  • Supports college and campus initiatives through coordinated communication and marketing efforts.
  • Plans, develops, and implements comprehensive marketing and advertising campaigns for both Ohio State Newark and COTC.
  • Contributes to Ohio State’s marketing communication planning and regional campaign implementation.
  • Collaborates with COTC Gateway and Ohio State Newark admissions to plan and track advertising campaigns, including creative and message development.
  • Manages and protects institutional brand identity across all print and digital materials.
  • Serves as gatekeeper for publications to ensure brand consistency and quality standards.
  • Researches and recommends new and emerging advertising methods and media outlets.
  • Stays current with higher education marketing trends and uses data to inform strategic planning.

In accordance with the Disaster Preparedness and University State of Emergency Policy 6.17 this position has been designated as an essential position for public health and safety emergencies.

This is a cost-shared position, representing the best interests of The Ohio State University at Newark and Central Ohio Technical College. Central Ohio Technical College’s mission is to meet the technical education and training needs of students and employers in the area, and the college aspires to be recognized as Ohio’s premier technical college focused on student success as well as for excellence in workforce development and technical education. Because the position is OSU paid, employment is subject to all rules, regulations, and policies of The Ohio State University.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, public relations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience managing or leading professional staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree preferred. 8-12 years of experience in marketing and communications, with increasing levels of responsibility, leadership, and strategic oversight. Strong business and organizational acumen. Proven ability to contribute to the strategic planning, development, and implementation of an institution-wide communications strategy.

This position is located on the Newark campus, located in Newark, Ohio. The target salary range is $88,300 - $115,350/year, based on the selected candidate's education, experience, and the available budget.
