Location: This role requires associates to be in-office 3 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. The Strategy Director for Payment Integrity at Carelon plays a critical role in steering long-term strategic initiatives that align with both the operational objectives of the Coordination of Benefits (COB) business unit, as well as the overarching goals of Carelon and Elevance Health. The Strategy Director collaborates closely with Coordination of Benefits (COB) leadership to identify strategic opportunities and propose robust plans for sustained business improvement through diligent needs assessment and strategic alignment.
The Strategy Director acts as a key liaison with executive leadership, fostering robust business relationships and delivering insightful presentations to C-level stakeholders. Success in this role is characterized by a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks, ensuring timely submission of business cases and funding proposals, and delivering initiatives that meet business expectations. The role demands exceptional executive presence and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder interactions with confidence and precision.
How you will make an impact:
- Strategic Partnership & Planning: Work closely with executive leadership to define success criteria and develop strategic plans that align with the enterprise's and the region's strategic goals, transforming strategy into actionable plans.
- Tactical Translation & Alignment: Convert high-level strategy into specific tactics, programs/projects, and timelines, ensuring alignment with business goals and the seamless achievement of strategic milestones.
- Executive Communication: Expertly develop and present high-quality presentations to executive leaders, aligning with best practice industry standards and influencing strategic direction.
- Performance Monitoring: Oversee the development and implementation of metrics that measure and communicate progress against strategic goals, ensuring initiatives meet desired outcomes and maintain alignment with financial modeling and IT plans.
- Trend Research & Competitive Analysis: Conduct thorough research on industry trends, leveraging insights to refine business strategies and maintain competitive market positioning.
- Financial Oversight: Develop and track budget metrics to ensure strategic initiatives are financially sustainable and identify areas for cost optimization.
- Leadership and Team Collaboration: Partner with senior staff to develop tactical and communication strategies, acting as a key decisionmaker and providing guidance on complex issues and projects.
- Project and Vendor Management: Lead breakthrough projects to transform the business environment while managing vendor interactions, including selection, negotiation, and relationship management to support strategic goals.
- Subject Matter Expertise & Approval Authority: Serve as a strategic expert on enterprise projects, taking responsibility for approval and direction concerning initiatives sponsored by executive leaders.
- Mentorship and Executive Coaching: Provide coaching to organizational leaders on strategic thinking and high-impact projects, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires a BS/BA degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of related experience including 3 years of leadership/management experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:
- Master’s degree preferred.
