Description

The Geospatial Research and Solutions group in the School for Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning seeks a full-time Associate Research Professional to perform GIS analysis and mapping which support research activities at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona.

Geospatial Research & Solutions (GRS) is a professional services group that works in conjunction with researchers in the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning (SGSUP) at Arizona State University (ASU). Our broadly experienced staff provides support to both academic and non-academic clients, maintaining a strong record of delivering high quality products. Essential Duties:

  • GIS data collection, management and analysis.
  •  Develop various web mapping applications.
  •  Collect and process remotely sensed data.
  •  Provide guidance on effectively managing, developing,   and operating GIS databases, applications, and data collection devices.
  •  Establish working relationships with both academic and  industry clients.
  •  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Geographic Information System (GIS), urban planning or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of practical experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online.
  • Demonstrated experience with web-based GIS technologies and application development such as GIS StoryMaps, Dashboards, Insights, Hub, and Experience Builder.
  • Strong understanding of cartographic principles, complemented by proficiency in designing web application interfaces with a focus on HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Proficiency in design and 3D modeling software such as Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with faculty, staff, and student communities to advance the principles of the ASU Charter.

Desired Qualifications:

  •  3-5 years of practical experience in developing mapping applications, conducting spatial analysis, and managing geospatial datasets.
  • Experience in providing technical support and training for GIS users.
  • Knowledge of advanced spatial analysis techniques and modeling.
  • Knowledge of programming languages commonly used in GIS, such as Python or R.
  • Experience with remote sensing techniques and collection, and software such as Pix4D and Agisoft Metashape.
  • Experience in three-dimensional (3D) or four-dimensional (4D) GIS technologies.
