The Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) provides education, leadership development, behavioral health, intervention, street outreach, and workforce development services to San Francisco youth and their families. Title:                     Program Assistant - REACH Dragon Boat Program
Salary:                  $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
Reports to:          Program Coordinator / Program Director

Status:                 Part-time; Non-Exempt


Position Description:
Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Program Assistant is responsible for supporting the coordinating, developing, and implementing the Resilience Empowerment Academic Community Health (REACH) program. The Program Assistant will follow a peer-to-peer mentorship model for youth in grades 7-12 and engage them in the Dragon Boat program, enabling them to become physically fit, develop lifelong healthy habits, and build confidence, self-esteem, and character. The program also aims to connect youth with teammates and peers to develop leadership skills, commit to civic engagement, and bring positive changes to their community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with organizing and facilitating Dragon Boat practices, races, and team-building activities.
  • Ensure service linkages to mental health services, including assessment and counseling sessions.
  • Scheduling assessment sessions with youth and their families for individual and family case management and referral services and determining the needs of the youth and their families.
  • Help facilitating clear communication between the Program Coordinator and families regarding training and race logistics.
  • Assist in supporting the activities of the youth Dragon Boat team by providing logistical assistance and offering guidance to team captains and youth members during practices and events.
  • Assist in coordinating enrichment activities, field trips, and community service opportunities for program participants, ensuring smooth logistics and effective communication with all involved parties.
  • Support in program recruitment by attending tabling events in both school and community settings, such as parent night meetings for building relationships with family.
  • Monitor participant attendance and maintain accurate records.
  • Foster cooperative relationships with school personnel, probation officers, parents, families, and collaborative agencies.
  • Collaborate with other CYC programs to provide comprehensive services.
  • Participate in required trainings, team meetings, and community meetings.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and statistics on client services and produce monthly reports for granting agencies.
  • Assist with events, activities, and projects focused on violence prevention and reduction in the Asian and Pacific Islander community.
