Job Description

Job Summary  

 

The Research Assistant will work under supervision and will be responsible for assisting in running and managing on-going research for the Shakespeare in the Southwest project. The project seeks to research the history and significance of Shakespeare and early theater to Laredo and the greater Texas region through compilation of primary source documents and ongoing community collaboration.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Research and collect data through complex techniques and procedures.  

  • Assist with data management and perform basic statistical analysis.  

  • Develop assessment and evaluation tools.  

  • Other related duties as assigned.  

 

Additional Responsibilities 

  • Assist with planning and communications for the Texas Shakespeare Festival Roadshow 

 

Minimum Requirements 

  • Enrolled at least half-time, 3 credit hours per semester for graduates.  

  • Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 3.0 for graduate students.  

  • Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).  

 

Preferred Experience and Education  

  •  Major in Humanities topics

  • Bilingual English/Spanish

  • Passion for Literature topics or Community-engaged research projects.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  

  • Proficiency in use of personal computer workstation with common software applications.  

  • Ability to organize and multitask functions to ensure compliance with deadlines.  

  • Outstanding customer service skills.  

  • Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills.  

  • Problem analysis and problem-solving skills.  

  • Ability to learn and use multiple software programs.  

  • Strong analytical reading and writing skills
