Bioinformatics Software Engineer III

 

Exciting Opportunity at MSK

We are seeking a Bioinformatics Software Engineer III to join our team. As part of the pathology software engineering group, you will work with a passionate team using technology to solve real-world and life-impacting challenges. You will develop bioinformatics and biomedical informatics solutions that will help diagnose a tumor specimen and suggest treatment paths for cancer. As a mid/senior level bioinformatics software engineer you will work with our informatics teams to help us continue pioneering next-generation clinical software systems, spawning from managing petabyte-scale biological datasets, high-performance computing-enabled bioinformatics pipelines, and other cutting-edge systems to help visualize and report genomic results that guide treatment decisions and enrollment of patients onto the clinical trials.

 

Role Overview:

  • Work and collaborate with a top-notch team of software engineers, bioinformatics scientists, biomedical informaticians, system engineers, and physicians to support clinical-grade diagnostics infrastructure.
  • Design, implement, test, and deploy cutting-edge scalable multi-tiered full-stack software systems.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including user guides, operational run books, and standard operating procedures.
  • Develop DevOps framework and implement standards, processes, and controls for release and deployment activities.
  • Develop biomedical informatics solutions, including software to integrate with medical and clinical informatics systems (EPIC health care systems, etc), API services, infrastructure to generate diagnostic reports for > 75 diagnostic tests, data dashboards, and cutting-edge web portals.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, biomedical informatics, or a closely related discipline with 6 years of hands-on software engineering experience, preferably developing scientific software.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with programming languages like Python, Java, Ruby, C/C++
  • 5+ years of experience building high-throughput and scalable RESTful APIs using Python frameworks (such as Flask, FastAPI, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience with database technologies such as MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB
  • experience with agile software development practices, and experience using tools such as JIRA.
  • experience integrating software applications with EPIC health care systems is desired but not required.
  • experience with data pipelines

  • Schedule: Hybrid, Three days onsite

Pay Range: 118,800 - $196,200
