Job Description
High SchoolThe Resident Assistant is a highly motivated individual who demonstrates leadership and/or the potential for leadership development and maintains the highest level of integrity. The RA is someone who is readily available and takes initiative to carry out the mission of Residence Life while being a servant-leader and upholding the University's Christian Values.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct weekly room checks,
- plan and implement dynamic programming tailored to each residence hall
- coordinate with the GRMs on larger programs.
- Serve as a primary resource and point of contact for residents, offering guidance, support, and referrals to campus resources as needed.
- Build positive relationships with residents through regular interactions, including one-on-one meetings, group discussions, and community gatherings.
- Promote and enforce university policies and residential community standards, addressing any violations or concerns in a fair and consistent manner.
- Conduct regular rounds of assigned residential areas to ensure safety and security, responding promptly to emergencies or incidents as they arise.
- Assist with the check-in and check-out processes for residents, including visitors, room inspections, key distribution, and inventory management.
- Collaborate with other RAs, professional staff, and campus partners to address resident needs, resolve conflicts, and enhance the overall residential experience.
- Serve as a positive role model for residents, demonstrating integrity, respect, and inclusivity in all interactions and behaviors. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities provided by Residence Life Department, including attending meetings and workshops.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to resident interactions, incident reports, and program evaluations.
Requirements:
- Have and maintain a cumulative 2.75 GPA ( 3.0 GPA preferred but not required)
- 2 semesters living in a residence hall (3 or more semesters living in a residence hall preferred but not required)
- Ability to communicate effectively and regularly with diverse Graduate Resident Manager and residents
- Ability to supervise peers
- Ability to be objective and keep information confidential when it is deemed necessary
- Exhibit Christian lifestyle and attitude
