What you’ll do
Help us protect Stripe and its users from crime and grow our Financial Crimes team!
We are looking for an experienced financial crime professional interested in working at a critical compliance and technology crossroads in fintech. As global head of Financial Crime Controls, you will oversee a team responsible for the day-to-day operation of the full suite of Stripe’s financial crime controls. As an experienced financial crime SME, your leadership and decision-making will allow the company’s monitoring, screening, onboarding, and investigations tools to operate at peak effectiveness and efficiency to detect and manage today’s financial crime threats; as an experienced technologist and product practitioner, your vision and collaboration will allow those tools to continue to advance and to define best-in-class approaches for managing financial crime risks. Your team will work side-by-side as critical collaborators and decision-makers with fellow financial crime experts and dedicated top-flight engineers to create and implement detailed control designs to allow Stripe to support its users seamlessly while operating within policy requirements and risk appetite flawlessly. You will be the principal decision-maker on specific control designs to support sound financial crime risk management, serving a critical role in ensuring Stripe’s continued safe growth and success. You’ll also be heavily involved in the strategic design and planning of Stripe’s financial crimes programme as we enhance and uplevel controls and programmes globally. You will be comfortable talking about expert topics - like financial crime and technology - to non-experts, and comfortable talking to regulators, auditors, and financial partners about the advances in our control frameworks. The right person for this role will be as comfortable as the leading financial crime risk expert talking to a group of engineers as they are as the leading technologist when talking to a group of financial crime fighters - and they will be enthusiastic about the challenge of being both.
Stripe is both a technology company and a financial services company, and you will need to be comfortable straddling both of those worlds every day and explaining both to others every day. The right person for the role will be enthusiastic both about the mission of financial crime and in the application of new and innovative technology approaches to protect Stripe, its users, the financial system, and the community at large from crime.
